Interestingly, it’s even marginally safer to humans than wind turbines. The emergence of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) has further underscored the potential of nuclear energy, given their scalability, safety, and waste reduction capabilities. Hydrogen, another promising contender, is versatile and clean. It can be domestically produced from various sources, including nuclear power and other sustainable methods, and can either power fuel cells or serve as a direct fuel for transportation. Solar energy, despite its intermittent nature, has seen dropping costs, making it a more attractive option. When combined with storage solutions, it can play a significant role in the grid. Lastly, while coal does pose environmental challenges, advancements in clean coal technologies and carbon capture are making it a more sustainable option.
